Before you call our facility, you will need to call your doctor and get a prescription for physical therapy to treat you. Once you get a prescription from your doctor call either our Cranston facility at 401-270-2211 or our North Smithfield office at 401-766-0022 and schedule and evaluation with one of our licensed physical therapists. When you call, you will be asked for your name, date of birth, insurance name and policy number, your address and phone number. If the insurance is not under your name, we will need the name of the policy holder and their date of birth. With this information, our office staff will call your insurance company and verify your benefits.
You will need to arrive 20 minutes early for your first visit to fill out paperwork. Click on the link for patient forms if you would like to do this ahead of time and bring these forms with you. Please bring your prescription from your doctor, your license and insurance card. Wear loose, comfortable clothing to all of your appointments We have places to change if you are coming from work.
Once you have completed your paperwork, one of our licensed physical therapists will bring you to a private treatment room and perform a comprehensive evaluation. They will look at your posture, measure your range of motion, test your strength and watch you walk to determine precisely the cause of your problem. Once your evaluation is complete, the therapist will sit down with you and explain exactly what your problem is and what their plan is to help your problem. They will answer all questions that you might have regarding your problem. When you leave from your first visit, you will know exactly what your problem is and what the physical therapist’s plan is to treat it. At Muldowney Physical Therapy, we believe a person who understands their problem will get better faster.
At Muldowney Physical Therapy, we believe in individual care. Therefore, every treatment session in our facility is 45 minutes long, one-on-one with a physical therapist. This time frame is 30% to 50% longer than most other physical therapy facilities. This extra time allows you and your therapist to work together to help you solve your problem. All of our physical therapists are trained in advanced techniques as well as the latest evidence-based practice. You will learn exercises and self correction techniques that you can do at home which will help your specific problem. Most importantly, you will have time every treatment session to sit with your physical therapist to go over your concerns or questions. During your entire stay with us, your doctor will be informed of your progress by your personal physical therapist.
Our goal for you when you are discharged from our care is that you have less pain and are able to independently perform exercises and self correction techniques at home. This can alleviate your pain if it returns. We want you to be happy with your stay at our facility and we want you to feel like you are a part of our family.
