Founder & Owner – Muldowney Physical Therapy
Kevin Muldowney, MSPT, is a nationally and internationally recognized physical therapist and one of the world’s leading experts in the rehabilitation of Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (EDS). He is the founder and owner of Muldowney Physical Therapy in Cranston, Rhode Island, an outpatient orthopedic practice that has become a global destination for patients with complex connective tissue disorders.
With over 20 years of clinical experience, including more than 20 years focused exclusively on treating EDS, Kevin has evaluated and treated thousands of patients from around the world. He currently treats 80–100 EDS patients each week, using a highly systematic, hands-on, and individualized approach designed to restore functional stability, strength, and long-term independence.
Kevin is the author of the internationally respected book,
Living Life to the Fullest with Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome: A Guide for Patients and Health Care Professionals, which outlines his evidence-based treatment philosophy and step-by-step rehabilitation protocol. The book is widely used by patients, physical therapists, and physicians as a foundational resource for EDS care.
The 5-hour evaluation and treatment session
Kevin developed the 5-hour evaluation and treatment session, an intensive, head-to-toe assessment that has become the gold standard for complex EDS cases. This comprehensive evaluation examines musculoskeletal, neurological, and systemic contributors to dysfunction, identifies global stability deficits, and results in a fully customized treatment and home exercise program. Each evaluation includes detailed education, manual therapy, taping strategies, and personalized guidance that allows patients—and their local providers—to follow a clear, effective plan long after the visit.
Educator & Lecturer
Kevin is a frequent lecturer and educator within the EDS and medical communities. He has been an invited speaker at multiple Ehlers-Danlos Society Global Learning Conferences, including:
- Baltimore, USA
- Nashville, USA
- Arizona, USA
- Toronto, Canada
He has also lectured at the Chiari Institute Symposium, focusing on EDS patients with shoulder instability and how it affects cranial-cervical instability
